The Language Learning Tech Toolbox

In our first week of TELL (Technology Enhanced Language Learning) class, our instructor introduced the course content which included practical work and online activities. Our first task was to create a blog which was a new experience for me. We also read the blogs of Larry Ferlazzo and Nik Peachey which provided valuable knowledge about language learning and technology. Our next task was to try out language learning reference websites mentioned in Larry's blog and write a review about them:

Cepstral

I tried out the Cepstral which focuses on pronunciation. One of the best features of this website is its vast collection of voice samples. I found this helpful in improving my pronunciation skills.

DeepL

I also used the DeepL which is meant for translation. I found it to be a useful tool for understanding different languages. Moreover, it also changes the style and tone of the translations.

Ninja Words

Ninja Words serves as a dictionary. I found it useful for finding word meanings and expanding my vocabulary. It also uses the given word in a sentence to provide its contextual usage.

Language Tool

I also used Language Tool which is designed to assist with writing. I found it helpful for improving my writing skills and reducing errors. It not only identifies the mistakes but also includes helpful explanations for them.

DALL-E

Lastly, I tried out DALL-E that creates images from text. I was impressed by its ability to generate relevant images based on my input but it requires you to create an account for its usage.
